Not only Mike Yarlett who avoided the 21-9 game at Worcester JP.

I spent about 2 1/2 hours walking around Rother Valley Country Park, close to where I lived at the time avoiding radio TV or any other media at the time. Hardly missed a game home or away that season…..apart from that one.

Brought back some wonderful memories JP and a few tears too.

That was the golden age for our club, but what rivalry there was.

I find it ironic reading this that Roth in their first season in the Premiership were allowed to play at Clifton Lane but were denied promotion in 2002 because that same ground “wasn’t suitable” - and then to top it off, the mandarins in charge didn’t like Millmoor because Roth didn’t own the ground despite London Irish, Saracens and Wasps all playing at football stadiums that they didn’t own at the time. Just shows what a rotten shambles the RFU and PRL have always been.

Having said that, as much as Titans struggled in the Premiership, it must have been good to watch some absolute legends of the game in the flesh in an era when English Rugby was so strong.

Wasn’t all bad DKF

About 200 of us went over to Perpignan for the weekend when we beat them 20-19 in the European Shield in October 2000. Perpignan featured Thierry Lacroix in their team. What a party that was.

Won in Grenoble that season too.

Then we beat Saracens 19-8 at the Lane.

We ran many teams close that first season and all in all it was very enjoyable. Not so much the second time around, but that team around 1999/2001 was for me the best team I’ve seen in Roth colours.

That was a brilliant read that. The Roth and Worcester rivalry was and is something extremely special, my first season watching Rotherham as a kid was the 2002 / 2003 season. Great memories. We are looking forward to going to battle once again. Both clubs have been on a big journey and it is amazing to see both sides finding success once again. For us our ambition is to be a great Champ side once again, Worcester look destined for the Premiership.
