Cambridge lost every game last year unfortunately. Scottish used a number of DRs and loanees; I don’t know whether they have the same facility this season. However comments on last weeks’s match at Camborne suggested LS were pretty competitive, certainly compared with Cambridge’s heavy defeat at home to Camborne on Saturday.
Scottish deal with quins is dead i believe. We haven't had a single quin play for us yet, and quins have implemented the 'jesters' A team to take our place.

Agree with park ranger - been really teresting how well Rotherham are doing (and Blackheath albeit with one win have not looked out of place) Contrast with how poorly Scottish and Cambridge are doing in N1.

Says a lot about the quality gap between the divisions and how much N1 has improved while the lack off relegation in the Champ in most seasons has caused teams to stagnate. The likes of Plymouth and Sale wouldn't look out of place int he Championship either imo. Id argue there is probably a more fluid overlap between bottom of the champ and top of n1 than a linear quality.
To be fair LS and Cambridge were well adrift of everyone else last season. I’m not sure I entirely buy the stagnation argument.
Maybe - but there wasnt relegation for 2 full seasons before that. Rattling around at the bottom for 2 full years without relegation certainly hasnt helped either team.improve

Our attendance does seem low although most would say it is above 750. We have increased ticket prices and the change in kick off times has had some effect also. I would have said we had close to 1000 on Friday but it is hard to gauge with us moving the pitch etc. Our best days in the champ I think we averaged at around 1200 maybe lower. The Doncaster, Leeds and Notts games bringing more etc. We do need to work on increasing the attendance but we are behind Rotherham United, The Sheffield Football sides, Barnsley, Sheffield Steelers, and compete with the Local rugby League and Union sides so it is difficult. I do think getting an average of over 1000 is possible though, it just needs more success on the field and a lot more out reach to new and existing fans. The ground improvements we are working on should also help due to improved facilities.

We are not running a squad of 50, the same happened last season, large recruitment with lots of trialists and Id say at least 10 did not stay on for the season and it is the same this year. I think it is more PR than anything. We do have a large ish squad but we don't have any DR link ups so we do need a larger squad to deal with injuries over the season etc. We do have multiple players that are loaned out to other Yorkshire sides below us in the pyramid.

I think Roth have upped their game a bit on the PR, the website is much improved, the social media posts are frequent and a good mix between club and fans (Roth fans facebook page has 1100 followers) so hopefully the numbers will get better as the season progresses. We are competing with a lot of local sport and then there is TV coverage for the Champ (which is a godsend for remote fans like me). Quite a few fans have commented on the lack of features in the Tizer, and other local rags so, maybe that's a thing the PR team can target. We have had soem decent splashes in the rugby paper. I have recruited a fan here in Dorset, who now has a Roth top and is supporting us agaisnt the Pirates at Mennaye Fields, despite all of his family being Cornish !!

It’s Mennaye Field or the Mennaye.
Our Facebook supporters page has 6,000 followers , so a way to go.

Come on lads, this is Rugby Union. What makes our game great is we can stand together, talk, have banter, share a beer with other fans without the need for animosity. You can compliment other teams and great plays, scores, kicks even if it is against your own club. All for the love of our great game. It’s what sets the sport apart from others.

I wish Roth did have lots of money as we would feel a lot more certain about things as fans but we do the best with what we have and follow the club on what ever ups or downs it goes through. Currently we have made a good start but that could all change in a matter of weeks if things don’t go our way.

All the best to Cheshire Exile and Chris T. Good luck for this season.

Thanks to all the great supporters on this forum who make our sport more interesting and interactive with great discussions and insights to the other clubs in the champ and other leagues. The fans on this forum and the last provides some really interesting information that we would not otherwise know as supporters of other clubs.
